Dr. Bohn graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pre-professional Studies in 1963 and then received his Doctorate of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1967. He did his Internship at McLeod Infirmary in Florence, South Carolina from 1967 to 1968. Dr. Bohn serviced in the U.S. Navy engaged in the General Practice of Medicine aboard a USS Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine, The Lewis and Clark and the U.S. Naval Hospital, both based out of Charleston, South Carolina from 1968 to 1970.

His residency in Ophthalmology was done at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 1970 to 1973. He was Board Certified in Ophthalmology in 1975.

Dr. Bohn served as a Rotarian for four years and helped to establish the Rotary Club South in Lafayette.

He was selected as a member of the Premier Class of Leadership Lafayette, a group of young business people chosen to study many aspects of business operations in the Lafayette community.

Dr. Bohn has been actively engaged in the practice of Ophthalmology since 1973. He has performed thousands of surgeries. Surgeries performed include laser surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, strabismus correction, refractive surgery and intraocular lens implantation. He built and established the Bohn Eye Center, a full care Family Eye Center in 1983, now known as Bohn & Joseph Eye Center. This includes Bohn Eye Center Optical-a full service, upscale optical shop and lab.

Dr. Bohn served as a consulting surgeon and assistant surgeon at the University Medical Center Ophthalmology Clinic in Lafayette, LA and assisted in the training of Residents.

Dr. Bohn continues to enhance his knowledge and skills by participating in numerous continuing medical education (CME) courses. Courses include laser surgery, many aspects of cataract surgery, sutureless surgery, glaucoma laser surgery, phacoemulsification and modern keratorefractive procedures, general updates on glaucoma, cataract and strabismus surgery, photorefractive keratectomy, and extensive other update courses in multiple aspects of ophthalmology.

Dr. Bohn has appeared on many radio and TV shows and has written medical articles which have appeared in newspapers and magazines. Discussions and explanations included such topics as cataracts, glaucoma, intraocular surgery, corneal transplants, effects of proper nutrition on eye health, trauma surgery and discussions of various types of glaucoma treatments including laser. During the past 25 years he has addressed many local clubs and organizations

Dr. Bohn co-authored a nationally sold book entitled, Two M.D.'s and a Pharmacist Ask, "Are You Getting It 5 Times A Day?� This stresses the importance of good nutrition and the wonderful things that happen to your body when it is properly nourished.

Dr. Bohn helped to establish and furnish the Lafayette Community Health Care Eye Clinic. He periodically volunteers his time in the clinic and helps to advise and recruit clinic volunteers.

Since 1978, Dr. Bohn has performed annual preseason screenings for the ULL athletic department

In 1985, Dr. Bohn began performing Senior Service exams as an Eye Care of America volunteer and in 1995 began performing Glaucoma Services as well.
