What Dr. Sajjadi Can do for You and Your Family

Ophthalmologists and optometrists play similar, but unique roles in your visionary care. Optometrists practice optometry, which involves performing eye exams and vision tests, prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses, detecting eye abnormalities, and prescribing medication for certain eye diseases. Optometrists hold a doctorate of optometry, which involves four years of optometry school after receiving their undergraduate degree.

As an Optometrist, Dr. Sajjadi is an essential addition to our practice, as she worked tirelessly while in school to gather as much experience as possible. During her years at UL Lafayette and the University of Houston College of Optometry, she volunteered and worked with several healthcare facilities and organizations, including the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, University Medical Center Emergency Department, Ophthalmic Optics Laboratory (teaching assistant), UHCO Simulation Lab (coordinator), AOSA Optometry Cares Local Liason, and Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.

This work and her education has given her experience with a variety of eye diseases, including dry eyes, conjunctivitis (red/pink eyes), glaucoma, macular degeneration, and strabismus (crossed eyes/eye turns), as well as eye complications as a result of conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. In addition, Dr. Sajjadi specializes in fitting hard and soft contact lenses for every visual need and particularly enjoys fitting scleral lenses, which are custom contact lenses for patients with conditions such as:

• severe dry eye disease
• keratoconus
• post-corneal transplants
• post-RK surgery
• post-LASIK

Dr. Sajjadi comes into the optometry profession ready to assist patients with challenging conditions to reach their full visual potential and provide Acadiana with quality eye care. In addition, Dr. Sajjadi will also be seeing children aged 6 years old and up, making Bohn, Joseph & Swan as family friendly as possible.
